At the heart of Ascend lies a resolute mission: to forge long-term, permanent solutions for high-skilled immigrants, providing them a structured pathway to a U.S. Green Card and the freedom to work through high-skilled immigrant visas.

Our inspiration stems from the rich mosaic of immigration stories etched into the American fabric. A visit to the Ellis Island Immigration Museum in New York will remind us of the journeys that brought waves of Irish, Welsh, British, Italian, French, and Chinese individuals to the U.S in cargo and passenger ships in the 1920’s. Historically, an immigrant’s most formidable challenge in 1920 was securing the funds for passage and having a family/friend support them upon arrival. 

Although, visa requirements to enter the U.S was enacted as early as May 11, 1917 with the Executive Order No. 2619, high-skilled immigration visas were not created till the early 90’s with the introduction of the Immigration Act 1990 that brought forth almost every employment-based immigrant and non-immigrant visas available today. For instance, the EB1 visa for extraordinary ability applicants and the EB2 NIW were products of the Immigration Act 1990.  

However, immigration has evolved to more complex criteria, including the popular aspect of having dependency on one’s country of birth, rather than citizenship, influencing wait times considerably. The disparities are stark; per the April 2025 bulletin, a Filipino-born EB1 aspirant might achieve their green card within a year, whereas an Indian-born peer would face an arduous wait of at least 4 years. For those pursuing EB2/EB2 NIW visas, the wait time for Indian-born applicants could surpass two decades.
